Blind box toys have become very popular recently in China. For many young people, they don’t know
what is inside the box until they open it. This adds more surprise and fun to their buying experience. More
and more companies start selling their goods (商品) in blind boxes.
On May 3, 160 little dogs and cats were found inside a van (厢式货车) at a delivery station (快递站点)
in Chengdu. Like other goods, they were packed in boxes to be sent to different places through the post.
According to the Chengdu Aizhijia Animal Rescue Center, when volunteers found those animals, four
of them were dead and many were sick. All of them were under three months old.
In fact, the sale of blind box pets is nothing new. On Taobao and Pinduoduo, some live animals are being sold
for prices as low as 9.9 yuan. Lots of animals on sale die on their way to their buyers. As a rule set by those
pet shops, buyers cannot return whatever they get because that is how blind boxes work. So if the buyer gets
a dead cat in the post, that’s bad luck!
The delivery company, ZTO (中通快递), has said sorry on Weibo for collecting live animals from
sellers for delivery. Yet public anger is not cooling down. People are calling for an end to the crazy sale of
blind box pets. State media (媒体) also asks buyers and sellers of such blind boxes to have “more kindness
and more respect for life”.

A.270 B.160 C.350 D.190

B.They can call the police to punish the seller.
C.They can return it through ZTO within seven days.
D.They can ask the Chinese animal-rescue group for help.
7.The writer (作者) writes this passage to ________.
A.cool down the public anger B.call on more respect for birds
C.stop the sale of blind box pets D.punish the delivery companies

Wonder, by United States writer R. J. Palacio, is a powerful story of change.
August Pullman was born with a different face. When he first started school at 10, everyone made fun
of him. The story shows all the ups and downs (起伏) August faces at his new school. Students often bully
(欺负) him for not looking normal. But at the same time, he makes true friends there and even wins a prize
at his graduation ceremony.
This book has touched my heart. It’s not a fairy tale—life isn’t one. Instead, the story is very realistic,
as it shows things that could really happen in a middle school.
I also like this book because it’s told from different points of view (视角). Along with August, we get
information showing other characters’ points of view, including his sister. This gives readers a chance to
understand different characters’ feelings and thoughts.
I think we can all relate to (感同身受) August. In one way or another, we are all just like him. We each
have our differences, and we shouldn’t try to change ourselves to fit in. We all experience ups and downs,
but like August, we’ve all won. This book has also changed my views toward life. Although there are all the
brutality (残忍) in the world, there’s always a reason to smile.
8.Who is the writer of the book Wonder
A.August Pullman. B.R. J. Palacio.
C.September Pullman. D.October Palacio.
9.Why do the students make fun of August

B.Because he looks different from them.
C.Because he doesn’t have any friends.
D.Because he wins an award.

A.精彩的 B.可行的 C.真实的 D.与众不同的
11.The writer likes the writing style of Wonder because ________.
A.it brings readers into the story as August’s sister
B.it tells the story from August’s point of view
C.it is made up of different chapters

12.Which of the followings is the writer’s idea
A.Young people should try their best to be different.
B.Students change themselves to fit in with others.
C.We can always find something good in life.
D.It doesn’t matter what you have experienced.

(2022·陕西安康·八年级期末)Healthy eating doesn’t just mean what you eat, but how you eat. Here
is some advice on healthy eating.
Eat with others. It can help you to see others’ healthy eating habits. If you usually eat with your parents,
you will find that the food you eat is more delicious.
Listen to your body. Ask yourself if you are really hungry. Have a glass of water to see if you are
thirsty—sometimes you are just thirsty, and you need no food. Stop eating before you feel full.
Eat breakfast. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Because you don’t eat for the past ten
hours, your body needs food to get you going. You will be smarter after eating breakfast.
Eat healthy snacks like fruits, yogurt(酸奶) or cheese. We all need snacks sometimes. In fact, it’s a
good idea to eat two healthy snacks between your tree meals. This doesn’t mean that you can eat a bag of
chips instead of a meal.
Don’t eat dinner late. In our busy life, we always put off eating dinner until the last minute. Try to eat
dinner at least 3 hours before you go to bed. This will give your body a chance(机会) to digest most of the
food before you rest for the next 8—10 hours.

want to tell me about it Was she worried that I would stop buying food if I found out

Primary and junior high school students now are allowed to stay at school for 2 hours after school.
Students can enjoy their hobbies or take part in other after-school activities.
This is one of the key measures(措施)of the “double reduction” policy(“双减”政策)across the
country. The policy tries to reduce students’ stress caused by too much homework and off-campus training
(课外辅导).
When students leave school, they can see their parents instead of grand-parents outside to pick them up.
Students and parents are happy about it.
“It’s good that I can come to pick up my son,” said Mrs. Kang, a mother of a second-grader. “I have
bought extra(额外的)exercise books for him to do since he has no homework now. I still need to know
how well he has learned.”
The changes also mean that students can choose to do their homework at school after classes. Lang
Lang, a student at a junior high school, has less homework now. “The teacher has cut out the repetitive
homework, and there are so many after-school activities for us to take part in. It’s great.”
Now almost all primary and middle schools offer two-hour after-school services on weekdays. Over 90
percent of students can finish their written homework in the set time. About 92 percent of schools have
