Ⅲ.[2022·杭州改编]完形填空
Something that I learnt from both my parents was the importance of having respect(尊重) for other people. I remember one day when we were travelling on a bus and I sat down while other people were standing. My mother shouted at me “ 1 immediately! You have young legs and you don’t need to sit down.” At the time I felt embarrassed about being told off in public, but now I understand. I think children nowadays have 2 that respect and it really makes me angry if I see children sitting down while 3 people are standing.
One area in which we had a lot of rules was table 4 . For example, we weren’t allowed to start our meal 5 the oldest person had started. We had to say “thank you” when our food was 6 , and eat everything on our plates before we could leave the table. We couldn’t make any noise when eating. Worse than that, we were only allowed to have sweets at the weekend, as a special 7 if we had been good.
Although my upbringing(养育) was perhaps a bit 8 compared with modern children, I’m very thankful to my parents for giving me a clear 9 in life. Even though I was sometimes 10 , I think it has made me a better person. In my view, children need clear rules, but more than that they need to learn how to get on with other people and realize they are not the center of the world.

Ⅳ.[2022·遂宁]阅读理解
What time does your school start Do you wish you can get up later every morning You are not alone if your answer is “Yes”. In the US, many middle school students have the same wish.
In America, many schools start the class before 7:30 a.m. But that may change soon. A new law has been passed in California. According to the law, middle schools should not start the class before 8:00 a.m. The government hopes school children will have a longer time in bed.
Many scientific studies show that teenagers are more active in the afternoon and in the evening. Simply telling them to go to bed earlier doesn’t work well. Most of them don’t get enough sleep because of bad sleeping habits and early school starting time. They need more sleep in the morning. Scientists suggest middle schools should start the class at 8:00 a.m. or later. Students can get well ready to learn and they won’t fall asleep in class. The change can help improve students’ grades.
While scientists are happy with the new law, many parents disagree with it. They won’t be able to send their children to school before they go to work. They also fear that later school starting time will lead to later ending time. As a result, their children will have less time to take part in after-school activities.

Ⅴ.[2022·唐山路北一模]任务型阅读
  阅读下面短文,按要求完成1~5题。
Have you ever taken PE classes with face masks(口罩), running, jumping, throwing If so, that can be dangerous and risky.
When doing exercise or sports, breathing is faster and harder than at rest. It increases the risk of passing the disease on. As a result, some people are considering having masks on, and others may follow suit(跟着做), especially during the outbreak of COVID-19.
We know that exercise leads to faster and harder breaths. A mask makes it harder to take in enough air when you perform at the highest levels. At low to moderate-intensity(中低) exercise, effort will feel a bit harder than normal with a mask, but you still walk comfortably. The challenge appears to be more during heavy exercise, like rugby or football, taking in air at rates(率) of about 40—100 liters per minute.
When we do heavy exercise, our muscles(肌肉) produce lactic acid(乳酸), which causes the sense of burning. It is then turned into CO2 and stored. But what happens if the CO2 is stopped by the mask As you move from moderate to heavy exercise, you may be rebreathing CO2.It can be bad for your health. There may also be less oxygen in the recycled air. It could be like exercising at highlands. So it is important we get a better understanding of the limits(限制) of heavy exercise with masks.
