I study at a girls' school in Melbourne, Australia. At our school, every student can take part in a yearly art competition called House Chorals.
This year, I joined the instrument team. We decided to play three pieces of music from the dance drama Swan Lake. The team leader first checked to see how many people could play and what instruments we had. There were only a few woodwinds, so he tried to give different parts to each person. And then we practised our parts during the holiday before starting the rehearsals.
The first rehearsal turned out not to be successful. Most of us had no experience of playing in a group. The leader had to keep us playing at the right speed by clapping loudly. After a few rehearsals, we finally sounded like a whole.
The next step was to add more dynamics. Dynamics made music exciting, but they were hard to remember. Although there were some notes on our sheet music, we still did badly. Our leader told us the story of Swan Lake to help us better understand the music. In the story, a prince falls in love with a princess who has been turned into a swan by a bad person. So when we played the music, which would be heard when the prince planned to marry the princess, we tried to make it sound lively. We used some instruments like drums to create the feeling and practised it again and again.
In the final competition, we stood out and won first place! I really think it is a great experience.

Different weather makes people feel different. It has something to do with health, intelligence and feelings.
In August, it is very hot and wet in the southern part of the United States. People there have heart trouble and other kinds of health problems in this month.
