Dive with Big Sharks
Our shark dive adventures make use of hookah systems and shark cages. A hookah system is a system of providing air from the surface to divers down below. Cage divers breathe by using a regulator connected to an air hose.
Is Shark Diving Dangerous
Yes. You could get sunburnt. You could hit your head on the top bunk when getting out of bed. You could fall overboard. As for a shark attack, according to the International Shark Attack File, you are far more likely to be killed by a dog or a deer.
Pricing & Details
One-day Cage Diver Adventure- $ 875
Our expert shark diver team will accompany you to the best viewing areas within the Marine Sanctuary. There, we'll drop our cage and prepare to provide you with a view you’ll never forget.
No dive experience is necessary. Our cage sits just below the surface. You’ll be able to breathe comfortably from your snorkel(呼吸管) or air hose while you move about the cage, taking photos and having fun.
Top Shark Adventure-$ 375
If you want to see great white sharks but prefer them a little further away, we offer great top-side shark viewing from our observation deck. Help scan the horizon for fins and watch for sharks attacking their prey(猎物).
Important Note
There’s No Shark Guarantee
Although we go to the best places at the best time of year, we cannot guarantee you'll see sharks. We've been very successful in past shark seasons and expect another incredible year. However, if we see no sharks, there is no refund.

B篇
While we may think it feels good to complain, complaining has some bad effects associated with it.
Why isn't complaining beneficial Research shows that it connects our brain with negativity. The brain is designed to work efficiently. This means that when we repeat a thought, negative or positive, the nerve cells form a bridge between each other to pass information at a higher speed. Therefore, the next time we have a similar type of thought, it is more easily passed. This explains why certain thought patterns become habits.
Yet the harmful effects don't stop there. A study shows that complaining causes the hippocampus(海马区),which plays a vital role in problem-solving, to become smaller.
In addition to causing brain damage, complaining also releases a stress hormone cortisol, a kind of chemical the body produces when we meet with some dangers. Constantly having a high level of cortisol results in high blood pressure, high blood sugar, and lower immunity(免疫力).
The ill effects of our complaining aren't just limited to ourselves, they also involve those around us. We tend to mirror the moods of our friends. For this reason, we should be cautious about having stubborn(固执的)complainers in our circle of friends.
The best way to deal with constant negativity is to develop a sense of gratitude. Just like complaining acts as a poison, gratitude acts as a medicine. Research shows it lowers cortisol levels by 23 percent, as well as reduces blood pressure and blood sugar. It also decreases tiredness and depression. Gratitude is the perfect cure for complaining, a behavior that steals our brain power, happiness and physical well-being.
What have you observed about the effects of complaining in your own life or in the lives of others Have you noticed that when you are grateful, you feel better all over Please share your thoughts in the comments section below.

C篇
Our tiny boat was ploughing through(费力穿过)the waves across the Indian Ocean and I was absolutely freezing. The further we got from the shelter of the land, the more I thought how foolish I'd been to come along on this trip.
The pilot of the boat looked almost 60 but, perhaps because of a lifetime on the open sea in the hot sun, was very fit and strong. I was wondering how he managed to find his way. To me, it seemed difficult enough to navigate a boat without any electronic equipment even on a sunny day.
So at least we were safe. But this was not what we had come along for. A look at the other divers' faces suggested that now they were also doubtful that we'd ever get the chance to see a whale shark-these weather conditions were totally unsuitable for diving! None of us spoke. It seemed too much of an effort. Then suddenly the boatman stopped the engine. He said a few words in. his own language to the diving instructor, who immediately jumped up from his seat and told us to get ready to dive.
When I jumped into the grey sea, I was sure I wouldn't see anything. But then... there it was! An enormous whale shark, slowly swimming through the water. I couldn’t believe my eyes-my first whale shark! I hardly dared breathe-I was afraid my streams of bubbles(气泡)might scare the huge creature away. And the other divers were equally awed. Slowly we approached this huge animal. It was swimming quite slowly and we were able to swim with it, looking at the beautiful markings on its back. I was still holding my breath, telling myself that this huge fish was harmless! Then I reached out and touched it, stroking(轻抚) its thick skin. It was amazing how this giant suddenly gained speed-we watched it as it swam away from us, and a few moments later it was gone.

A. To see a whale shark.
B. To learn how to dive.
C. To swim across the Indian Ocean.
D. To save underwater creatures.
( )l1. How did the author feel after he jumped into the sea
A. Rather anxious and angry.
B. A little scared but excited.
C. Doubtful and disappointed.
D. A bit tired but later relaxed.
D篇
Disorders of the brain are a growing worry. Twelve mental- health conditions affect about 970 million people around the world according to the Global Burden of Disease Project: more than one in ten of the population. This figure could well be an underestimate. Neurological(神经学的) problems such as stroke, migraine(偏头痛),Parkinson’s and brain injury are collectively the leading global source of disability. Ageing populations with unhealthy ways of life are likely to make this problem much worse everywhere.
In an ideal world, science would be coming to the rescue. But the brain is a complex organ sometimes described as the most complex structure in the known universe. A private company spent an estimated $ 43 billion on research into therapies for Alzheimer's disease between 1998 and 2017 and came up empty-handed. That big failure is perhaps the biggest reason why, in the 2010s, many drug firms abandoned or cut back on neuroscience research
Happily, there are signs of a change. In our Technology Quarterly this week we report on a renaissance in neuroscience, with many drug companies, some of them big ones, showing renewed interest in the field. This fresh energy is coming from a variety of techniques and ideas. More precise diagnosis and well-confirmed biomarkers which reveal the course of disease, are improving clinical trials. New kinds of treatment such as gene therapy, are expanding the range of diseases that can be tackled. Other advances are an increasing amount of data, which is proving critical to understanding the biological roots of neurological problems.
As hopes rise for tackling this final frontier of bio-medicine, it is worth remembering that the secrets to a healthy brain are not only going to come from a pill or psychotherapist's treatments. The health of the brain is influenced by what goes on outside it such as nutrition, exercise, the abuse of alcohol, education, social connections and pollution. None of this should be surprising: The health of the brain is tied to the health and the well-being of the body that it sits in. Efforts to ensure better brain health are an investment that will keep bringing advantages to individuals, and to societies, for decades to come.
( )l2. What does the author suggest in both the first and last paragraphs to prevent brain diseases
A. Less worry.
B. More financial aid.
C. Magic medicine.
D. Healthy lifestyles.
( )l3. What contribute to the renewed interest in neuroscience research
A. Profits and fame.
B. Advances in technology.
C. Larger range of diseases.
D. More clinical trials.
( )14. What is most likely to be the author's job
A. A journal editor.
B. A librarian.
C. A medical student.
D. A clinical doctor.
( )l5. What does the text mainly talk about
A. Complex brain health.
B. A brand-new research topic.
C. Renewed neuroscience research.
D. Defeating brain disorders.

The British are known for their sense of humor. However, it is often difficult for foreigners to make sense of their jokes. The main thing to remember is that the British like to make fun of themselves as well as others. 16 Another key to understanding British humor is to know that the British often use understatement.
Understatement means saying less than you think or feel. For example, if someone is very impolite and shouts at another person, someone else might say, “He/She isn’t exactly friendly.” Understatement is often used in unpleasant situations or to make another person look silly. 17 The British like to make fun of many other things. They often laugh about the silly and terrible things that happen to us every day, like when someone accidentally falls over in the street. They also like to make jokes about people from different classes of society. 18 Finally, the British love to watch comedies about people who do not know how to behave in society. The comedy TV series Mr. Bean is a good example of this kind of humor.
19 In pictures, he almost never talks, and instead he uses his body movements and facial expressions to make people laugh. Perhaps what makes Mr. Bean so funny is that he does things that adults in the real world cannot do. For instance, once Mr. Bean bought a large chair. He needed to take it home, but it was too big to fit in his small car. His solution was to put the chair on top of his car. 20 Mr. Bean is popular in many countries around the world because you do not have to speak English to understand the humor. Because of this, many people can better understand the British sense of humor.
A. British humor brings people laughter and content. B. Understatement plays an important part in British humor. C. Then, he sat in the chair and used a broom to drive the car! D. They also like to make jokes about situations that are quite serious. E. Throughout the film, the audience was amused by his convincing acting F. Mr. Bean is a character created by British actor Rowan Atkinson in 1990 G. Such jokes are normally about their accents, the way they dress and the way they behave.

There is a growing junkyard in space. The low-Earth Orbit, 36 is a narrow band of space relatively close to the Earth's surface, is 37 (crowd) with thousands of tons of space debris(碎片).
A satellite services company, Astroscale, has developed a two-satellite mission 38 (aim) to remove these objects. It consists of a “servicer” satellite designed to 39 (safe) remove debris from the orbit and a “client”satellite to simulate(模拟) a piece of orbital debris. The satellites 40 (send) into space on March 22 and are now circling in Earth orbit.
Over the next few months, the two satellites will separate 41 each other and then join in a game of orbital cat and mouse. In 42 series of tests, the servicer satellite will try 43 (meet) with the client spacecraft, dock(对接) with the object and then release it. “Even though space is big, the usable orbits where we keep our satellites are quite small. Having far higher density of objects in these very narrow 44 (region)of space will lead to more crashes over time," Aaron Rosengren, assistant professor at the University of California, San Diego, told NBC News.
So we believe one day in the future when we look up at the stars high above, the satellites 45 (perform)the task to remove the debris over our heads.

Nupur walked along the road with a sad look on her face. Tomorrow was her friend Neeta's birthday but she did not have anything nice to wear to the party. Her father's small factory had closed down and there was hardly any money left at home to buy a new dress.
Nupur decided to wear an old dress that had been her favorite for many years but was a little too short for her now. “I will ask the tailor to lengthen it,” Nupur said to herself. The tailor however refused to do so. "I don’t take such work right now since the orders have started pouring
in and my hands are full."
Nupur left holding the bag with the dress in it and thought, “What am I to do ” Suddenly she saw a lady get out of the car and walk towards the bank. The lady opened her handbag to take out some papers but her wallet fell to the ground. Unaware of it, the lady went into the bank. Nupur ran and picked up the wallet. There were so many people in the bank that she decided to wait on the steps.
After a long time the lady came out. Nupur handed her the wallet that she had dropped. The lady could not believe it. The little girl had been waiting for her for so long, just to give back the wallet. The lady looked at the contents and everything was just the way she had left it. She looked at the girl's old and dirty clothes. "What is your name and where are you going Can I drop you home " The lady asked. Nupur told the lady that she was going home. Dear Peter,
Welcome to Beijing!
About the two choices, I'd like to recommend the first one- the Great Wall. Several reasons account for this choice. Just as the saying goes, he who doesn't reach the Great Wall isn’t a true man. As one of the iconic symbols of China, the Great Wall has been regarded as a must-see attraction, thus you should go there. I'm sure you'll have a good time.
If you have any other questions, just ask me.

Nupur answered enthusiastically. "My uncle gave me a new box of colored pencils. I'll give that to my friend." "Great! Come over in the evening and collect your dress."
