An illness had kept the boy at home, but he had expressed an interest in meeting me, and it would mean a great deal to him. I agreed. He was Matthew. When he was born, the doctor told his parents that he would not live to see five, then they were told he would not make it to ten. Now he was thirteen. A teenager needs to have a sense of independence in their life to feel secure(安全的). To some teenagers independence means a lot to them, and I think that some parents don’t allow their teenagers enough independence.
Independence has something to do with freedom. Some kids are not allowed to go anywhere alone, and the only thing their schedule includes is going to school, coming home, going to sleep, and repeating the process the next day. Parents tend to be afraid that their kids can get hurt if they go outside into the world. But if parents control their kids too much, they may never learn to live on their own. The best way for a teenager to learn lesson is through experience. I think it is beneficial for teenagers to have freedom.
Teenagers’ lack of freedom can also stop them from having good friendship at school. Some might say this is a good thing, because it helps them focus more on their school work. I argue that this can only discourage them not to do their school work. Some parents do not allow their children to be around their friends outside the school, thinking that this will get them into trouble. But I don’t think so. Instead, isn’t this a good reason for parents to get their children a cellphone Cellphones allow teenagers to stay in touch with their parents, and communicate with friends.
Privacy is another issue between parents and their teenagers. Teenagers tend to enjoy relaxation by themselves in their own room. This also gives them a sense of independence. It often annoys teenagers when their parents enter their room when they are not home. I know that my mom always goes in my room when I’m not home, and this has brought me to the point where I have asked many times to get a lock on my door.
28.What is the main idea of the second paragraph
A.Kids know how to live independently.
B.Some parents allow their kids no freedom.
C.It benefits teenagers to have freedom.
D.Kids have a dull routine every day
29.In the opinion of the author, ___________.
A.parents should make it easy for kids to communicate with their friends
B.good friendships between kids harm their school work
C.it is unnecessary for a kid to have a cellphone
D.kids should focus on the school work
30.How do teenagers usually feel when their parents enter their rooms in their absence
A.Disappointed B.Lucky
C.Angry D.Calm
31.The author hopes to have her door locked in order to ______________.
A.keep her father from reading her dairy B.prevent her mother entering her room
C.Protect herself from any harm D.Stop thieves from going in
D
Nearly one in four Americans made money over the last 12 months by using their personal computers or other devices connected to the Internet. The Pew Research Center, an independent research group in Washington, found that people are using the Internet to find extra work. They go online to sell things such as used books and furniture or they offer to provide services such as babysitting, house cleaning or computer repairs.
Pew found that income earned on the Internet can come in many forms. Some said they had jobs that paid a few pennies each to take surveys. In these surveys, people are asked for their opinions of different products or well-known people. About two percent of Americans earned money from ride-sharing companies such as Uber and Lyft. When drivers are ready to pick up passengers, they use their ride-share company’s app. The computer program lets them know when passengers are ready to be picked up and how to reach them. Some people make their homes, apartments, or rooms inside their homes, available for money to people visiting their cities.
About 60 percent of people say the income they earn is important to them. But just one in five people who sell things online say the income is enough to be important to their lives. Only 16 percent believe doing online work will lead to a meaningful career. But 37 percent say the extra income earned from online jobs helps them make up for shortages in money.
The number one reason people gave for taking online jobs was that the work gave them something to do and was fun. What kind of people work online or use online devices to find work The answer appears to be: mostly people who already have jobs.
32. What is the main idea of paragraph 1
A. How to sell used books.
B. How to find extra work online.
C. A new way of making money.
D. A new research on the Internet.
33. How many forms of earning money online are mentioned in paragraph 2

C. 3. D. 4.
34. How does the author make the point more persuasive

C. By telling stories. D. By doing surveys.
35. What is implied in the last paragraph
A. Many people have found jobs using the Internet.
B. Those who have jobs enjoy making money online.
C. The future of the Internet is questioned.
D. More people will lose their job soon.

How to Make Good Conversation
“Conversation is the most sociable of all human activities.” I totally agree with this point. Conversation is the main part of everyone’s daily life. 36. What’s more, good conversation is the most interesting part for us. In my view, you should pay attention to the following three issues to make good conversation.
To start good conversation, we'd better prepare some questions. 37. We can ask some questions to show our politeness and care for others. Like, do you have a good sleep last night Or what do you do in your spare time Think twice before you throw a question to others.
38. We should pay attention to what others said and think in their shoes. Allow the others to do most of the talking. Be patient and hold interest for their comments and make some noise to show you are listening carefully. 39. In this way you will get the credit for being a good conversationalist as well as a good listener and it will help you to make friends with others.
We always said eyes are the windows to the soul. Appropriate eye contact is like a great element of the main dish which makes it more delicious. 40. It will help us to improve mutual (相互的) understanding. Do not hesitate to look into them. But don't stare at them and don't look at them for too long a time. It would make others feel uneasy and unwilling to go on talking.
A.Good questions make people feel comfortable.
B.Without conversation, life would be as cold as a rock.
C.The most important part of conversation is to listen.
D.Enjoy good conversation and be friends with them.
E.Do not interrupt others when they share their views excitedly.
F.They have some ideas that they want us to know and even convince us.
G.During conversation, we should look the speakers in the eye friendly.

【答案】One possible version:
Hello, everyone,
I’m honored to stand here to tell you something about my school life in the past two months.
Our school is very beautiful with a woody garden, where we can take a walk, breathing the fresh air and enjoying the pleasant scenery. The advanced equipment in the classroom is just brilliant and it helps our teachers make their classes lively and interesting.
My classmates are so excellent and diligent that I have to work extremely hard to keep up with them. Fortunately, my teachers and classmates are all friendly and enthusiastic. I have already made several new friends here. However, the food in the cafeteria is very poor and I hope it can get improved. Besides, we are extremely busy doing homework every day. How I wish we could have more time for physical exercise!
Thank you!
