故填who/that。
故填be revealed。

As the Camp Fire continued, killing at least 85 people and displacing thousands more in Northern California, Madison waited there.
Gaylord, the Anatolian shepherd mix’s owner, was not able to get to her home in Paradise, when the fire began to spread, meaning Madison was left behind. For weeks, all Gaylord could do was pray for Madison’s safety, according to California-based animal rescue organization Paw Print Rescue.
Sullivan, a volunteer with the organization, had already helped locate Madison’s brother Miguel in a different city. But Madison was even more difficult to find. Sullivan spotted Madison a few times in a canyon (峡谷), apparently guarding his land, and put out fresh food and water regularly in hopes that the dog would turn up, according to a Facebook post by Sullivan. She even placed an article of clothing that smelled like Gaylord near the home “to keep Madison’s hope alive until his people could return,” Sullivan wrote.
When the evacuation (疏散) order was lifted last week and Gaylord went back to her home—which had been ruined by the fire—her prayers were answered: Madison was there, seemingly protecting what little remained of his family’s home. “Well, I’m so happy to report that Gaylord was allowed to return to her home today and THERE MADISON WAS!!!! He had stayed to protect what was left of his home, and never gave up on his people!” Sullivan wrote in the comment on her Facebook post. “I’m so happy I’m crying as I write this! He didn’t give up through the storms or the fire!” she added.
Soon afterward, Madison was reunited with Miguel for the first time since the fire broke out. An emotional Gaylord said in an interview with the network that she was overcome with joy to see Madison waiting for her. She also expressed how grateful she was to Sullivan. Gaylord said fighting through tears, “You could never ask for better animals. He is the best dog.”
24. What did Madison do during the Camp Fire
A. He rescued Sullivan.
B. He waited for Gaylord.
C. He stayed with Miguel.
D. He ran away from Paradise.
25. Why did Sullivan place an article of clothing smelling like Gaylord near the home
A. To keep Madison warm.
B. To get Madison to turn up.
C. To help Madison remember his owner.
D. To encourage Madison not to give up.
26. Where was Madison finally found
A. In a different city. B. In a canyon.
C. At a camp. D. At his home.
27. What quality is emphasized in this story
A. Patience. B. Unity.
C. Devotion. D. Wisdom.
B 25. D 26. D 27. C

由第四段中“Well, I’m so happy to report that Gaylord was allowed to return to her home today and THERE MADISON WAS!!!! He had stayed to protect what was left of his home, and never gave up on his people!” Sullivan wrote in the comment on her Facebook post.
She even placed an article of clothing that smelled like Gaylord near the home “to keep Madison’s hope alive until his people could return”可知,Sullivan把闻起来像Gaylord的一件衣服放在家附近是为了在她的主人回来之前保持它的希望。
由第四段中的“Gaylord was allowed to return to her home today and THERE MADISON WAS!!!!”
从全文的描述中“Gaylord的营地着火之后,Madison不顾危险,一直守在那里等它主人回来”以及由第四段中的“He had stayed to protect what was left of his home, and never gave up on his people!(他呆在那里保护房子并从没对放弃他的人们)”可知,Madison是很忠诚的。A.
2. Why did Sullivan place an article of clothing smelling like Gaylord near the home
A. To keep Madison warm.
B. To get Madison to turn up.
C. To help Madison remember his owner.
D. To encourage Madison not to give up.
本题容易误选C项,认为Sullivan放了一件闻起来像Gaylord的衣服是为了让Madison记住它的主人,但根据后面的“to keep Madison’s hope alive until his people could return,”可知,是为了保持Madison的希望,也就是鼓励它不要放弃,故选D。
C
Reading Art: Art for Book Lovers is a celebration of an everyday object—the book, represented here in almost three hundred artworks from museums around the world. The image of the reader appears throughout history, in art made long before books as we now know them came into being. In artists’ representations of books and reading, we see moments of shared humanity that go beyond culture and time.
In this “book of books,” artworks are selected and arranged m a way that emphasizes these connections between different eras and cultures. We see scenes of children learning to read at home or at school, with the book as a focus for relations between the generations. Adults are portrayed (描绘) alone in many settings and poses—absorbed in a volume, deep in thought or lost in a moment of leisure. These scenes may have been painted hundreds of years ago, but they record moments we can all relate to.
Books themselves may be used symbolically in paintings to demonstrate the intellect (才智), wealth or faith of the subject. Before the wide use of the printing press, books were treasured objects and could be works of art in their own right. More recently, as books have become inexpensive or even throwaway, artists have used them as the raw material for artworks—transforming covers, pages or even complete volumes into paintings and sculptures.
Continued developments in communication technologies were once believed to make the printed page outdated. From a 21st-century point of view, the printed book is certainly ancient, but it remains as interactive as any battery-powered e-reader. To serve its function, a book must be activated by a user: the cover opened, the pages parted, the contents reviewed, perhaps notes written down or words underlined. And in contrast to our increasingly networked lives where the information we consume is monitored and tracked, a printed book still offers the chance of a wholly private, “off-line” activity.
28. What are the selected artworks about
A. Books and reading. B. Home and school.
C. Wealth and intellect. D. Work and leisure.
29. What do the underlined words “relate to” in Paragraph 2 most probably mean
A. Hate. B. Paint. C. Understand. D. Change.
30. What does the author want to say by mentioning the e-reader
A. People now rarely have the patience to read.
B. Our lives in the 21st century are networked.
C. Technology has changed the way we read.
D. The printed book is not totally out of date.
A 29. C 30. D
通过文章第二段“In this “book of books,” artworks are selected and arranged m a way that emphasizes these connections between different eras and cultures. We see scenes of children learning to read at home or at school, with the book as a focus for relations between the generations.(在这本“书之书”中,艺术品的选择和排列方式强调了不同时代和文化之间的这些联系。我们看到孩子们在家或在学校学习阅读的场景,书是代际关系的焦点)”可知,选定的艺术品是关于书籍和阅读的。故选A项。
根据画线词上文“In this “book of books,” artworks are selected and arranged m a way that emphasizes these connections between different eras and cultures. We see scenes of children learning to read at home or at school, with the book as a focus for relations between the generations.(在这本“书之书”中,艺术品的选择和排列方式强调了不同时代和文化之间的这些联系。
通过文章最后一段“From a 21st-century point of view, the printed book is certainly ancient, but it remains as interactive as any battery-powered e-reader.(从21世纪的角度来看,印刷书籍当然是古老的,但它仍然像任何电池供电的电子阅读器一样具有互动性)”以及“And in contrast to our increasingly networked lives where the information we consume is monitored and tracked, a printed book still offers the chance of a wholly private, “off-line” activity. (在我们日益网络化的生活中,我们所消费的信息被监控和跟踪,与之相反,印刷书籍仍然提供了一个完全私人的、“离线”活动的机会)”可推知,本文作者提到电子阅读器想表达的是印刷书籍并没有完全过时。故选D项。
D
After years of observing human nature, I have decided that two qualities make the difference between men of great achievement and men of average performance: curiosity and discontent. I have never known an outstanding man who lacked either. And I have never known an average man who had both. The two belong together.
Together, these deep human urges (驱策力) count for much more than ambition. Galileo was not merely ambitious when he dropped objects of varying weights from the Leaning Tower at Pisa and timed their fall to the ground. Like Galileo, all the great names in history were curious and asked in discontent, “Why Why Why ”
Fortunately curiosity and discontent don’t have to be learned. We are born with them and need only recapture them.
“The great man,” said Mencius (孟子), “is he who does not lose his child’s heart.” Yet most of us do lose it. We stop asking questions. We stop challenging custom. We just follow the crowd. And the crowd desires restful average. It encourages us to occupy our own little comer, to avoid foolish leaps into the dark, to be satisfied.
Most of us meet new people, and new ideas, with hesitation. But once having met and liked them, we think how terrible it would have been, had we missed the chance. We will probably have to force ourselves to waken our curiosity and discontent and keep them awake.
How should you start Modestly, so as not to become discouraged. I think of one friend who couldn’t arrange flowers to satisfy herself. She was curious about how the experts did it. Now she is one of the experts, writing books on flower arrangement.
One way to begin is to answer your own excuses. You haven’t any special ability Most people don’t. There are only a few geniuses. You haven’t any time That’s good, because it’s always the people with no time who get things done. Harriet Stowe, mother of six, wrote parts of Uncle Tom’s Cabin while cooking. You’re too old Remember that Thomas Costain was 57 when he published his first novel, and that Grandma Moses showed her first pictures when she was 78.
However you start, remember there is no better time to start than right now, for you’ll never be more alive than you are at this moment.
31. In writing Paragraph 1, the author aims to ________.
A. propose a definition B. make a comparison
C. reach a conclusion D. present an argument
32. According to the author, a person with “his child’s heart” tends to ________.
A. lead a simple and satisfying life
B. be curious about the unknown
C. follow the custom all the time
D. try to avoid making mistakes
33. What can we learn from Paragraphs 6 and 7
A. Lack of talent and time is no reason for taking no action.
B. Experience and special abilities are the keys to success.
C. The genius can get things done easily and creatively.
D. Satisfying yourself can help you become an expert.
34 What could be the best title of the passage
A. Young Minds Never Feel Contented
B. Trial and Error Leads lo Success
C. The Keys to Achievement
D. Well Begun Is Half Done
D 32. B 33. A 34. C

根据第二段“Like Galileo, all the great names in history were curious and asked in discontent, “Why Why Why ”(像伽利略一样,历史上所有的伟人都很好奇,不满意地问道:“为什么?为什么?为什么。”)”以及下文““The great man,” said Mencius (孟子), “is he who does not lose his child’s heart.”(“伟人,”孟子说,“是不失童心的人。”)”
根据第六段“She was curious about how the experts did it. Now she is one of the experts, writing books on flower arrangement.(她很好奇专家们是怎么做到的。现在她成了其中一位专家,正在写插花方面的书。)”以及第七段“Remember that Thomas Costain was 57 when he published his first novel, and that Grandma Moses showed her first pictures when she was 78.(请记住,托马斯·科斯坦出版第一部小说时57岁,摩西奶奶在78岁时展示了她的第一张照片。)”
根据第一段“After years of observing human nature, I have decided that two qualities make the difference between men of great achievement and men of average performance: curiosity and discontent.(经过多年对人性的观察,我发现有两种品质决定了有成就的人和表现平平的人的区别:好奇心和不满)”、第二段“Like Galileo, all the great names in history were curious and asked in discontent, “Why Why Why ”(像伽利略一样,历史上所有的伟人都很好奇,不满地问道:“为什么?为什么?为什么。”)”以及第七段“Remember that Thomas Costain was 57 when he published his first novel, and that Grandma Moses showed her first pictures when she was 78.(请记住,托马斯·科斯坦出版第一部小说时57岁,摩西奶奶在78岁时展示了她的第一张照片。)”
Color is fundamental in home design — something you’ll always have in every room. A grasp of how to manage color in your spaces is one of the first steps to creating rooms you’ll love to live in. Do you want a room that’s full of life Professional Or are you just looking for a place to relax after a long day ____35____
Over the years, there have been a number of different techniques to help designers approach this important point. ____36____ But good news is that there’re really only three kinds of decisions you need to make about color in your home: the small ones, the medium ones, and the large ones.
____37____ They’re the little spots of color like throw pillows, mirrors and baskets that most of us use to add visual interest to our rooms. Less tiring than painting your walls and less expensive than buying a colorful sofa, small color choices bring with them the significant benefit of being easily changeable.
Medium color choices are generally furniture pieces such as sofas, dinner tables or bookshelves. ____38____ They require a bigger commitment than smaller ones, and they have a more powerful effect on the feeling of a space.
The large color decisions in your rooms concern the walls, ceilings, and floors. ____39____ So it pays to be sure, because you want to get it right the first time.
A. While all of them are useful, they can get a little complex.
B. Small color choices are the ones we’re most familiar with.
C. It’s not really a good idea to use too many small color pieces.
D. When looking for room color ideas, start by embracing color theory.
E. Color choices in this range are a step up from the small ones in two major ways.
F. Whatever you’re looking for, color is the key to making a room feel the way you want it to feel.
G. Whether you’re looking at wallpaper or paint, the time, effort and relative expense put into it are important.
F 36. A 37. B 38. E 39. G
前文“Do you want a room that’s full of life Professional Or are you just looking for a place to relax after a long day (你想要一个充满活力的房间吗?专业的吗?或者你只是想在漫长的一天后找个地方放松一下)”以问题的方式呈现我们对房间的不同需求,因此F项“Whatever you’re looking for, color is the key to making a room feel the way you want it to feel. (无论你在寻找什么,颜色是让房间感觉像你想要的感觉的关键)”符合语境,指出颜色是关键,承接前文的不同需求,其中的looking for和前文的looking for是同词复现。故选F。
【36题详解】
前文“Over the years, there have been a number of different techniques to help designers approach this important point. (多年来,已经出现了许多不同的技术来帮助设计师处理这一点)”说明有很多处理房间颜色的技术,因此A项“While all of them are useful, they can get a little complex. (虽然它们都很有用,但它们可能会变得有点复杂)”符合语境,指出这些技术会有点复杂,和前文形成转折,其中的they指代前文的a number of different techniques。故选A。
前文“But good news is that there’re really only three kinds of decisions you need to make about color in your home: the small ones, the medium ones, and the large ones. (但好消息是,关于家里的颜色,你只需要做出三种决定:小面积的、中等面积的和大面积的)”提到三种决定,下面三段内容分别围绕一个决定展开,后文“They’re the little spots of color like throw pillows, mirrors and baskets that most of us use to add visual interest to our rooms. (它们是小小的彩色点,例如抱枕、镜子和篮子,我们大多数人用它们来给房间增添视觉趣味)”解释了小面积的颜色的意思和作用,因此B项“Small color choices are the ones we’re most familiar with. (小面积颜色的选择是我们最熟悉的)”符合语境,引出小面积颜色的选择,承接前文,契合后文内容,其中的Small与前文的small是同词复现,同时与下面两段第一句中的“Medium color choices”和“The large color decisions”相呼应。故选B。
【38题详解】
前文“Medium color choices are generally furniture pieces such as sofas, dinner tables or bookshelves. (中等面积颜色的选择通常是沙发、餐桌或书架等家具)”说明中等面积颜色的选择内容,后文“They require a bigger commitment than smaller ones, and they have a more powerful effect on the feeling of a space. (与小面积颜色相比,它们需要更大的投入,它们对空间的感觉有更强大的影响)”将中等面积颜色的选择和小面积的进行了具体比较,因此E项“Color choices in this range are a step up from the small ones in two major ways. (从两个主要方面来说,这个范围的颜色选择比小范围的颜色选择要更进一步)”符合语境,点明中等面积颜色的选择与小面积的在两个方面有差异,承接前文,引出后文具体的比较,其中的small ones与后文的smaller ones呼应。故选E。
【39题详解】
前文“The large color decisions in your rooms concern the walls, ceilings, and floors. (你房间里大面积的颜色选择涉及墙壁、天花板和地板)”说明大面积颜色的选择内容,后文“So it pays to be sure, because you want to get it right the first time. (所以肯定是值得的,因为你想第一次就做对)”解释做某件事的价值,因此G项“Whether you’re looking at wallpaper or paint, the time, effort and relative expense put into it are important.
Last year, I baked biscuits for complete strangers to say “thank you”. I’d had to call 999 because I found my husband unconscious on the floor. Within minutes, a police car arrived and soon my husband received medical care in hospital.
A week later, when I dropped off still-warm biscuits and presented a thank-you note at the police station, the policemen thanked me for delivering gifts.
I drove away feeling light and happy. Later, I realized that my natural high might have been more than it seemed.Research has shown that sharing gratitude has positive effects on health. People who express gratitude will increase their happiness levels, lower their blood pressure and get better sleep.
What about people who receive gratitude Research has confirmed that when people receive thanks, they experience positive emotions.“Those are happy surprises,”says Jo-Ann Tsang, a professor of psychology. When someone is thanked,he’s more likely to return the favor or pass kindness on, and his chances of being helpful again doubles, probably because he enjoys feeling socially valued.
The give-and-take of gratitude also deepens relationships. Studies show that when your loved ones regularly express gratitude, making you feel appreciated, you’re more likely to return appreciative feelings, which leads to more satisfactory in your relationships.
Nowadays, however, many people don’t express gratitude. Our modern lifestyle may be to blame. With commercial and social media, everything is speeding the younger generation to feel they’re the center of the world. If it’s all about them, why thank others
Why not thank others Just take a look at how many positive effects can saying “thank you”have on personal health—and the well-being of others.
If you aren’t particularly grateful, I strongly suggest you learn to be.People who are instructed to keep gratitude journals,in which they write down positive things that happen to them, cultivate gratitude over time.
40. What health benefits can people gain from expressing gratitude
_______________________________________________________
41. How do people probably respond when they receive gratitude and feel socially valued
_______________________________________________________
42. Please decide which part of the following statement is false, then underline it and explain why.
Saying “thank-you”improves relationships, but nowadays some young people don’t want to do it because everything is making them feel blamed by the whole society.
_______________________________________________________
43. If possible, who would you like to express gratitude to most Why (In about 40 words)
_______________________________________________________
40. People who express gratitude will increase their happiness levels, lower their blood pressure, and get better sleep.
41. They are more likely to return the favor or pass kindness on, and their chances of being helpful again double.
42. Saying “thank-you” improves relationships, but nowadays some young people don’t want to do it because everything is making them feel blamed by the whole society.
Everything is making some people feel they’re the center of the world.
43. I would like to express gratitude to my parents most, because they have always supported me through thick and thin, and have sacrificed a lot to provide me with the best opportunities in life.
根据文章第三段“People who express gratitude will increase their happiness levels, lower their blood pressure and get better sleep.(表达感激之情的人会增加他们的幸福感,降低他们的血压,并获得更好的睡眠。)” People who express gratitude will increase their happiness levels, lower their blood pressure, and get better sleep。
根据文章第四段“When someone is thanked, he’s more likely to return the favor or pass kindness on, and his chances of being helpful again doubles, probably because he enjoys feeling socially valued.(当有人被感谢时,他更有可能回报你的帮助或传递善意,他帮助别人的可能性会增加一倍,可能是因为他喜欢被社会重视的感觉。)” They are more likely to return the favor or pass kindness on, and their chances of being helpful again double。
根据文章第六段“Nowadays, however, many people don’t express gratitude. Our modern lifestyle may be to blame. With commercial and social media, everything is speeding the younger generation to feel they’re the center of the world.(然而,现在很多人不表达感激之情。我们的现代生活方式可能是罪魁祸首。随着商业和社交媒体的发展,一切都在促使年青一代觉得自己是世界的中心。)”可知,年轻人不愿意表达感激之情是因为社会的发展让年青一代觉得自己是世界的中心。由此判断Saying “thank-you” improves relationships, but nowadays some young people don’t want to do it because everything is making them feel blamed by the whole society.中的“because everything is making them feel blamed by the whole society.” Saying “thank-you” improves relationships, but nowadays some young people don’t want to do it because everything is making them feel blamed by the whole society.
Everything is making some people feel they’re the center of the world.
I would like to express gratitude to my parents most, because they have always supported me through thick and thin, and have sacrificed a lot to provide me with the best opportunities in life.

D. He ran away from Paradise.

D. To encourage Madison not to give up.

A. In a different city. B. In a canyon.

____37____ They’re the little spots of color like throw pillows, mirrors and baskets that most of us use to add visual interest to our rooms.
