Some countries are building more nuclear power stations. Germany is going in the different direction. On Saturday, Germany shut down the last three nuclear power stations(核电站). The move is expected to have an influence on the environment, but could lead to a growth of renewable(可再生的)energy sources, such as
wind, sun or water.
Worried about safety, people in Germany have been fighting against nuclear power since the 1970s. In 2000, the government made a plan to gradually shut down its nuclear power stations, but the plan was later stopped. In 2011, a nuclear power station in Japan was hit by an earthquake and tsunami(海啸),causing the world's worst nuclear accident since 1986.After the accident, Germany's government made a plan to shut down all of its nuclear power stations by 2022. Eight nuclear power stations were shut down soon afterward. The remaining nine were meant to be shut down by the end of 2022. However, for some reason Germany put off shutting down its last three nuclear power stations until April 15,2023.
In recent years, nuclear power has provided less and less of Germany's electricity. In 2000,it provided about 30% of Germany's electricity.By last October, that number had fallen to 6%.Cutting back on nuclear power meant Germany had to find other ways to make electricity.Germany has been adding more and more wind and solar power. It has also used more coal and natural gas.
The nuclear power stations are now officially closed, but not everyone agrees with the move. In a recent survey, 52% of Germans were against shutting down the nuclear program.

C. It stops the development of new energy.
D. It puts all of them at risk.

B. It has not been finished completely yet.
C. It had no influence on the lives of the Germans.

Researchers who examined DNA from famous German musician Ludwig van Beethoven have found something new about his health.
They found that he had a risk for liver(肝脏)disease. The DNA also showed that Beethoven caught the virus hepatitis B(乙肝病毒)in the last months of his life. The virus hurts the liver. The findings suggest Beethoven's liver problems were enough to cause the liver failure widely believed to have killed him. The musician was also believed to have been a heavy drinker, which can influence the liver.
The musician himself wrote that he wanted doctors to study his health problems after he died.Axel Schmidt is a researcher who helped lead the research. He said that Beethoven's sicknesses had “sometimes prevented his creative work". Schmidt added that for many doctors, “it has always been a mystery" what exactly killed him.
Since his death, scientists have long tried to piece together Beethoven's medical history. And they have offered many explanations for his many health conditions. But new examination technology and methods now make it possible to revisit(再次讨论)health and death information by studying ancient DNA. The DNA were collected from hair cut from Beethoven's head.
Getting enough genetic(遗传的)material was difficult because DNA in hair gets cut up into very small pieces. But finally, after using up almost 3meters of Beethoven's hair, the team finished it.
The question of what caused Beethoven's hearing loss remains unanswered, said Ohio State University's Dr Cooper. He said that the mystery might continue forever because DNA can not show us everything about our health. However, Cooper added that the mystery is part of what makes Beethoven so interesting and popular. “The fact that we can't know is OK,”he said.
18.What did rescarchers find by examining Beethoven's DNA
A. Why he kept fit in the last months.
B. How he caught the virus hepatitis B.
C.What might have caused his death.
D.What he drank most while young.

B. Develop his creativity.
C.Keep his mystery forever.
D. Make a study of his health.

B. It was hard to collect enough DNA.
C. There wasn't enough time to do research.
D. It took a lot of time to find Beethoven's hair.
21.It is still a mystery to people according to the passage.

For more than a year, he spent the night screaming(尖叫)in pain, even asking his family to have his leg cut off.
He went through test after test, but no doctor could find out what was making his leg so painful. Finally, they discovered Dillon had a rare condition (罕见疾病)called Complex Regional Pain Syndrome(CRPS,复杂性区域疼痛综合征),one of the most painful illnesses in the world. Melanie,Dillon's mother, began searching for treatment for Dillon's illness. But she quickly discovered there weren't many choices in the UK.

A 19-year-old in China was diagnosed(诊断)with Alzheimer's disease(阿尔茨海默病)recently. It has made him the 44 (young)person in the world with the condition.
Doctors at Capital Medical University's Xuanwu Hospital in Beijing said the patient's brain showed early signs of this illness. After excluding(排除)all other 45 (cause) of his disease, they diagnosed the teen with early Alzheimer's disease.
The teen's memory decline(衰减) 46 (start) about two years ago. He had trouble in 47 (remember) events from the day before. And he was not able to finish homework. Gradually, he even could not remember 48 he had eaten or not. As 49 result, he had to drop out of high school.

第六部分阅读表达(共3小题;54题2分,55题2分,56题3分,满分7分)
请认真阅读下面材料,用英语回答材料后的问题。
Mark Twain once said that everyone talked about the weather, but no one ever did anything about it. This was true in his day. But it may not be the case in today's world. In fact, humans have found many different ways to control the weather.
Cloud seeding(云催化)isa kind of technology that can control rain. It is done by spreading chemicals(化学物质)like dry ice or silver iodide(碘化银)inside of clouds, either by rocket or airplane. This changes the amount of water inside the cloud, which helps to control the amount of rain, the time when it rains and even where it rains.
This technology has helped to solve droughts(干旱). It has also played a key role during important events. For example,China used cloud seeding in Beijing just before the
2008 Olympic Games in orderto stop rain from
falling during the event.
However, scientists are still debating(辩论)how to use this technology. On the one hand, it is believed that it might have side effects(副作用).For example, silver iodide may be bad for the environment. On the other hand, no two clouds are the same,so every new experiment introduces new conditions.
In addition to controlling rain, scientists have also tried to find ways to weaken storms and hurricanes(飓风). Scientists at the National Hurricane Centre think it might be possible to control hurricanes by using lasers (激光).Others believe that burning petroleum (石油)in a hurricane's path could slow the storms down.
54. What is cloud seeding
55.Why are scientists still debating how to use cloud seeding
56. Do you think humans should control the weather Why or why not
